I was delighted with Killala's win yesterday in the Veterans Series Qualifier at Doncaster Racecourse having been given a unremitting ride by Aiden Coleman. Jumping the last I thought he would finish 2nd at best but Ericht tired in front and the battling pair of Killala and Saint Are caught him just before the line. It was a thrilling finish and it was good for Killala's confidence as he had not won for 12 months and this was the first race he has even completed this season! On his seasonal debut at Chepstow, he pulled a shoe before hanging badly on his next two starts so it is great to see him back in the winners enclosure after a short break following a wind operation.
